Question: I'm in relationship with a guy since 6 years. But 8 months ago, I became friendly with another guy at work. Initially, our interaction was just restricted to friendly chit-chats, but later he started pursuing me. Even though I made it clear to him about the lack of possibility of us being in a relationship, l continued being friends with him. But he kept on pursuing. Later, on my boyfriend's insistence; I broke all contacts with him. But to my surprise, I'm finding myself attracted to him and I'm unable to shun him completely out of my mind. I don't want to break up with my boyfriend as he is my best buddy first. Please help; I don't know what to do. - By Anonymous
Answer by Dr Rachna K Singh: Infatuation/attraction can happen anywhere with anyone; all that it needs is just a series of few weak moments. In your case, since you are already in a committed relationship since a long time and are happy too (assuming since you referred to your partner as your best buddy), your bent towards this guy may just be a simple infatuation. Don't stress too much on it. Further, if you still feel uncomfortable and feel a strong pull towards him, you could do a detailed pros and cons assessment of your current boyfriend and the new boy. Getting deeper into what you are currently feeling about both may help you take a better and a firmer stand.
